Protein Water?! š¦

Apparently women everywhere have now entered their āprotein era.āĀ š
Itās in our coffee, yogurt, smoothies, snacks⦠honestly Iām half expecting someone to suggest adding protein powder to wine next.
But truthfully, this āeat more proteinā movement may actually make a lot of sense as we age. After 40, women naturally begin losing muscle mass each decade ā especially after menopause ā and since our muscles are made up of roughly 20% protein, our bodies need more support to maintain strength, energy, balance, and metabolism.
Basically⦠the goal now is to age with enough muscle to:
open pickle jars independently
carry all the grocery bags in one trip
survive getting up off the floor
and continue pretending weāre 29 š
Protein can help:
Maintain muscle as we age
Keep us fuller longer and help with cravings
Support metabolism and energy
Support bone health and recovery from workouts
Help support hair, skin, and connective tissue too
So Iāve been trying to sneak in an extra 20ā24 grams of protein a day, and these are a few of the āclear wheyā drinks Iāve tested out lately. Honestly, I like these because they taste more like juice or a fancy hydration drink than those old-school chalky protein shakes that traumatized us in the early 2000s. š
Current lineup:
Rule 1 Clear Whey Isolate ā Peach Mango
SPLASH Clear Protein ā Grape Slice
Organika All Day Protein Hydrator ā Wild Raspberry
Not saying I suddenly have the physique of a fitness influencer⦠but if I can preserve muscle, reduce snack attacks, and keep functioning knees for a few more decades, Iām in. š
